The backing for your quilt must be 4" larger than the top on all four sides to facilitate loading onto the quilting machine. This means that the backing will be a total of 8" longer and 8" wider than the quilt top.

I have batting you can purchase but if you bring your own, the batting must be the same size as your quilt backing material.
The quilt back must have straight edges.

Be sure to check that all seams have been completely sewn, your seams are ironed flat and remove all loose threads on the front and back. Never leave the selvages on when you piece your backing or along the edges. Selvages have a much tighter weave and may pucker. Please iron your completed top and carefully fold. This will prevent wrinkles that once quilted cannot be removed completely.

Do not add a border on the backing hoping that the quilter can center it. If you need the additional length or width, add it somewhere in the middle. Many factors come into play not allowing the accurate centering of a pieced border backing.

Please attach any preferences for batting, thread color, quilt design, centering, directional fabrics, a label that may need to be attached, etc. for your quilter to remember. Include the size of the quilt. You may print out a work order form and include all the information before you come. Make sure any specific instructions you may have are included. Your quilter cannot remember every specific idea you have.

I want you to have a wonderful experience with the end result. Please communicate any problems that may arise after your quilt is complete. We may be able to fix or solve the problem. I don't want you to go away unhappy. My aim is to help you complete a beautiful quilt that you will enjoy for a lifetime.
